We do not accept Adobe® Photoshop® or Pagemaker®, or any Microsoft® programs, with the exception of Microsoft® Excel® files which may be used to supply information. Adobe® PDF files are the preferred file format. You can create Adobe® PDF files from any professional graphics program. High resolutions JPG files are acceptable for photographs on digital orders only.
An Adobe® PDF properly prepared from an Adobe®, Corel® or Quark® program is always going to be preferred since it will eliminate font and platform issues. Programs that we have are Adobe® Illustrator 12, Adobe® InDesign 3, Corel® Draw 9 and QuarkXPress® 7.
Be sure to embed the fonts in your Adobe® PDF file; however, due to licensing restrictions, some fonts will not embed. Converting type to outlines before creating the Adobe® PDF file will eliminate problems with these fonts, but we will not be able to make text changes to your file.
When sending 1 color files, do not apply color to the file. This does not mean we will print your job in black. The job will be printed in whatever color your order specifies.
When sending 2, 3 or 4 spot color files, apply the spot colors as needed. Double check your file to make sure only the 2, 3 or 4 colors exist on the file that the job will print in.
For digital jobs, send the file in CMYK. If your file was printed previously on another printer, it may not match what we print due to differences in production equipment. You may request a color proof for an additional charge.
For 4-color process jobs, create and send the file in CMYK. A file created in spot or RGB will not convert to CMYK to match the spot or RGB file. If there is a graphic element in your file taken from the internet, it will not convert to CMYK to match what you saw on the computer screen or printed out on a printer. If your file was printed previously by another printer, it may not match due to differences in production equipment. A hard copy 4-color proof is produced on our digital machine and will not be a good representation of how the job will print in CMYK, especially if your file was not created to print in CMYK.
For jobs that do not bleed, supply your Adobe® PDF file 1-up on a page that is the same size as your finished job will be. For example, supply business card files on a 3½ x 2” page.
For jobs that bleed, add 1/8" to the size of the page on each side where the image bleeds and make the bleed image go to the edge of the page. For example, if we are going to print a business card that bleeds off the top and bottom of the card, add 1/8" at the top and at the bottom so that the page size is 3½ x 2¼” and the part of the image that bleeds goes to the edges of the page.
Alterations or corrections that we make to your file will incur extra charges.
